LESSON LEARNT IN 2021

In 2021, I cried a lot. It hurts more than you can think to have to treat one or more illnesses. It's not something that can be anticipated. Fortunately, even extreme pain can present us with opportunities to learn and grow. We can't grow in comfort, as I've previously stated. Grief, pain, hardships, and growth chances abound this year. I learnt a lot, and I hope you may profit from what 2021 taught me as well.I also encourage you to take the time to reflect on your year.

Thankfully, like with everything in life, the year was not without its highlights! There were so many valuable life lessons that my family and I learned this year as a result of the numerous situations and experiences that the year presented, and I'm thrilled to be able to share them with you all today! So, without further ado, let's get started.

Hello 😊!!Welcome, back Dear reader! Hope You stay safe and feel relaxed wherever you’re, glad to have you here again.  Today I’ll be talking about lesson I learnt in 2021.

Here's what 2021 has taught us:

DIFFERENT TYPES OF LOVE.

People show their affection for you in a variety of ways. Some people go out of their way to wish you well and check in on you, while others send you good vibes. I strive to value people that go out of their way to demonstrate affection, rather than dismissing loved ones who may be concerned with their own issues.

There are always occasions for us to congratulate our friends, check in on them, and express love to them. If you miss someone, take advantage of those possibilities or create your own. We need to help each other get through these difficult times.

DISRESPECT.

There are people in our lives that love us, but constantly disrespect us. That disrespect is often subtle. It may be in the form of a backhanded compliment, changing plans on you to accommodate a different friend, or being inconsistent. It’s important to call out that disrespect as soon as you identify it. Doing so will help you both figure out if you are able to communicate what’s not working in a healthy way. Communication is key in relationships and in friendship. If that communication does not resolve the negative emotions, it’s time to cut ties and move on.

FEAR.

I’ve seen people I love, settle out of fear. I am once again reminded of the importance of not settling out of fear. Better things are ahead, even if you can’t see it.

 BE KIND. ALWAYS

Being kind to yourself benefits others as well, because you can't serve others if you aren't at your best. Self-care, formerly thought to be a selfish pastime, has become a popular catchphrase.

It may be as simple as going for a 30-minute nature walk in the morning instead of staring at a screen, or enjoying a cup of coffee with a book in hand instead of staring at a screen.

Whatever it is, taking care of yourself is more vital than ever, especially if you have a family to support.

HARD WORK.

Optimism and hope can be as debilitating as crippling depression. Without taking the first step, you won’t progress. Being happy and hopeful does not yield results. Putting in the work does. I’ve had to check myself several times this year and remind myself to work extra hard, even when things are going well.

ENERGY.

I haven't done a really good job of presenting myself to the world, or at least what I want out of it. I've been concentrating on taking care of myself, working hard, saving money, and investing in my future. Despite all of that, I'm still having trouble attracting the things and people I desire in my life.

My defensive walls and reclusive temperament, I believe, have trapped the energy I should be giving out.

I'm really comfortable and secure, perhaps to an unhealthy degree.

In 2022, I hope to take more risks; try new things, meet new people, and chase the things I haven’t been able to admit that I want in my life.

An outward image is not enough to attract the things you want. You also have to truly believe that you deserve those things.

THE IMPORTANCE OF GRATITUDE.

When you are arrogant, it’s expressed by boasting. When you are confident, it’s expressed in gratitude.

It’s important to take the time to express gratitude as often as we can.

I have high belief in myself and that is a product of all those who helped me get through the tough times in my life.

I am grateful for my friends and family

We learned to live life one day at time

Remember the days when life was one continuous rat race? The sudden slowdowns forced us to focus on what really mattered — protecting ourselves and our loved ones, staying healthy and boosting immunity.

Though it's taken some getting used to, life with restrictions has really taught us to appreciate the value of living at a slower pace, as we were forced to adapt to constantly changing regulations at the whim of the pandemic, adhere to new normal's, and simply learn to live in the moment rather than make grand plans for the future.

I LEARNT TO LIVE WITH LESS

And staying on the topic of living one day at a time, if you craved a simpler life, 2021 certainly taught us how to live one.

Normally hectic and busy schedules quickly gave way to having to make time for simpler activities such as more quality family time together, more sleep, exercise, healthy eating and better mental health.

Learning to live with less, and being happier with less, has certainly got to be a silver lining of this year gone by, because this lesson in particular will continue the positive change movement for our bodies, family life and humanity for the future.

You can’t appreciate the sweet if you haven’t tasted the bitter

This one is an old Chinese saying, and it rings very true to me. When I went through a period of darkness and things weren’t so good, I started to realize what it meant to have happiness in my life.

I can honestly say I now know what true happiness is because I’ve felt what true unhappiness is. The one can’t exist without the other, otherwise you would have a flat line. To have experienced both ends of the spectrum in my life makes me grateful for everything that is in between.

2021, A YEAR IN REVIEW.

All things considered, 2021 was a great year for me. I learned a lot about myself, the people I love, and the world in general. Life moves on, and that’s a great thing. I’ve been patient with myself at times, while also pushing myself when necessary. I’ve grown stronger in my beliefs, and more resilient in my willingness to express them publicly. My courage has helped me connect with those who needed me to be brave. I’ve connected with many people at a deeper level.

Mental health is everything. My continuous effort to spend time working on it has continued to pay off.

2021 taught me many lessons, but also gave me many great memories.

MY HOPES FOR 2022.

I hope 2022 is a year that society as a whole wakes up and recognizes that we all have many things in common.

Hopefully, I connect at a deeper level with those whose opinions differ from mine, and learn from each other.

I intend to put myself out there more; meet new people and try new experiences. I am ready to grow as a man, and willing to face my fears to do so.

Taking Per Sources to the next level is priority and duty.

Whatever positive impact on the world I intend to have in the next 5 years, starts with this year.

2022 is going to be a great year.

I am excited.

I hope you are too.

The ongoing uncertainty caused by the pandemic last year has made us learn to appreciate and cherish everything and everyone that we have in our lives. It's not just our loved ones, family and friends that we should be grateful for.

Rather it's the small things that we took for granted till now, such as healthcare and front line workers, or having the ability to smell and taste, something that many people infected with Covid lost.

It's time we appreciate everything we have in our lives and to be grateful for what we have.

Remember this harsh truth I’ve forgotten many times

My biggest lesson of 2021 came from a sudden tragedy. It’s led to a major life upgrade. Here it is.

You can lose it all. So enjoy the process more than the outcome.

Stay tuned for the next article.
